Despite the main growing season being over, work has continued in the Garden and surrounding area.
Hard working volunteers have cleaned the inside and outside of the greenhouse. The store has been tidied and pots have been washed and stacked ready for next spring.
The raspberries have been pruned and the beds re-spaced with new posts and wire to make harvesting easier next season. A wood chip path has been laid between the rows. Similar work has been carried out in the West garden to support the blackberries.
Litter picking, a never ending task, has been organised by garden volunteers and some garden volunteers also assisted with the tree guard removal events in Hobson Park organised by Hannah in November and December. To find out more join the Clay Farm Trees WhatsApp group.
The pond was cleared recently but almost immediately someone threw large branches into the water.
Can we ask everyone to please not throw anything into the pond. It damages the lining and pollutes the water, which in turn damages the plants and water creatures. When the pond freezes the impact of stones or branches can shock the wildlife out of hibernation and cause their death. ,
