Employee Volunteers rescheduled their original June date, and despite the burning weather on Wednesday morning, braved the heat, and working hard achieved the impossible.
They strimmed and raked the orchard leaving the part where bees and butterflies are feasting, put up hooks to keep support hoops tidy in the store, weeded mulched and even dug out and moved the heavy roller, planted the flowering currant shrub (we hope it can survive); put up hooks to keep hoops and metal supports tidy in the store and even managed a bit of deeper weeding on the paved area.
They were still smiling at the end of the day. We owe them, and Jon their facilitator, a huge thank you.

Sadly the hose pipe ban and request to use water sparingly will affect our ability to produce the crops we usually provide to the local food club. But we still need help to salvage what we can and keep the Garden going.
Please speak to a volunteer if you are able to join our regular volunteers. Thursdays are the best time to speak to us – either in the morning from 10am or in the evening after 5pm. Even a small amount of your time makes a huge difference. We don’t just garden so join other volunteers to learn more about the history of the garden, chat and drink tea together. It is a great way to meet your neighbours.
The Garden is unfunded and cared for by unpaid volunteers.
