Astra Zeneca volunteers headed by Volunteers at work and Diego again made a positive difference to the Garden and Hobson Park allotments last week.
Through heavy showers and, at times, muddy conditions, mowing, tidying, weeding, building another mud kitchen – for the allotments this time – Their major job for the day was to dig out and move the heavy concrete slabs from the area around the soon to be completed feasting table.
Moving the slabs was challenging, not only because of the weight, but also because ongoing construction on the feasting table base, hampered their work. Nevertheless, at the end of the day they were all still smiling.
A big thanks also to neighbours who answered the call to complete the work to remove the remaining slabs to the drop off zone the next day. This week to Chris and Bruce who installed the water butts and to Nick and Lauren who painted, weeded, tidied, restored and reseeded the damaged ground this week
Please help yourselves to the remaining slabs
