The Big Picnic was a huge success.
It was fantastic to see so many new faces as well as many of the regulars at the garden, all enjoying the newly planted West side of the garden.
Games were played and enjoyed by the children while all relaxed on the lawn.
We had promised the event would go ahead whatever the weather, so when the rain came it didn’t dampen spirits. Everyone huddled under the 2 gazebos waiting for the return of the sun. Many thanks to local resident Hannah and the Stitchers for the loan.
In the afternoon BonCrêpe was busy serving pancakes and refreshments and in the evening Pizza Passione cooked up delicious stone baked pizzas in their wood fired oven.
Thank you to all who donated in exchange for our freshly harvested potatoes, onions and courgettes, and to the volunteers who dug them. Nonna’s Lab’s 3 delicious cakes sold out and local home bakers also provided various cakes and loaves. Donations will support future garden projects.
All surplus vegetables have been donated to Trumpington Food Hub.
A big thank you to all who came along on the day – the community spirit was inspiring and we hope more residents will visit a community garden here for all to enjoy.
