Volunteer Day at the Garden

This week we had a visit from a wonderful group of hard-working young volunteers from “No We Can” – National Citizen Service – and 3 of our own even younger regular volunteers joined in. They cheerfully carried out their tasks – weeding the beds and the mound and digging up the pesky thistles that just keep coming back. They prepared the notice board for repainting – we will start to use this to announce weekly meet ups in the garden.

Our volunteers also learned about vegetable growing and had time for some fun and a picnic together and we invited them to our Thursday Garden Party.

An update on construction work in the Garden: The roof of the building is now watertight and the cycle path from the busway to Pinnington Close is complete – so no need to cycle through the garden. The path from Stallan Close to Pinnington Close remains to be completed.

Finally, our very popular Garden Parties for this Summer are proving a success despite the fact that many have escaped on holiday! On Saturday August 7th we are hosting a Big Picnic. Watch this space for further details.
